About Chapter

Founded in the 1950s, SMACNA St. Louis is a local chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association, an international organization of union sheet metal contractors.

Our more than 100-member contractors are recognized leaders throughout the Greater Metropolitan St. Louis area.

History and Mission

Sheet metal work dates back centuries, including its use in early home construction.  It became critical for environmental control during the Industrial Revolution with the advent of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that maintain a comfortable air temperature and pressure, as well as provide air filtration. SMACNA International was founded in 1943, and SMACNA St. Louis began shortly after in the 1950s.

Our Mission & Values

SMACNA St. Louis advances the proficient and safe building practices of its union sheet metal contractor members in the fields of heating, air conditioning, sheet metal, ventilation and architectural sheet metal. SMACNA is the definitive resource connecting contractors, their customers and labor with the necessary technical expertise, legislative support and highly skilled productive construction methods which deliver the best value to the construction consumer.
