SMACNA – St. Louis 2013 Golf Tournament

The annual SMACNA-St. Louis golf tournament was held May 13,2013, at the beautiful St. Albans Country Club. Lunch was served to attendees prior to the 12:30 shotgun start. Drinks and a barbecue dinner complete with a pig roast followed the tournament and individual/team prizes were awarded. Results and pictures are posted below. Gary Tidwell was the winner of the hole sponsorship prize, walking away with a big screen tv! Raffle and attendance prizes were also given.

A total of 210 golfers enjoyed a day of food, camaraderie and beautiful weather! Thanks to the lunch and hole sponsors, as well as the volunteers, it was another fun and successful golfing event.

2013 Annual Installation of Officers

 

SMACNA-St. Louis held the annual installation of officers dinner on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Forest Hills Country Club.

Howard Stine Elected SMACNA National President

  Howard Stine Elected SMACNA President

 LAS VEGAS — Howard Stine, executive vice president of Charles E. Jarrell Contracting in Earth City, Mo., was elected by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association’s (SMACNA) Board of Directors to serve as president. His term in office began Oct. 17th at the close of SMACNA’s 69th annual convention.

Stine has taken an active role in SMACNA leadership for many years. Currently he is vice-chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, chair of the Investment Committee, and a trustee on the Industry Fund of the United States.

Among his past service to SMACNA and the industry is membership on the SMACNA Board of Directors from 2005 to 2009. He has served as co-chair of the NEMI/NEMIC International Certification Board. He was inducted into SMACNA’s prestigious College of Fellows in 2009. Stine and his wife Jeri are members of SMACNA’s Political Action Committee, SMAC PAC, at the Chairman’s Club level.

His support of the New Horizons Foundation includes being a Summit Circle contributor and service on the Board of Directors.

Locally, he has served as past president, vice president, and twice chapter councilor for the SMACNA-St. Louis chapter. In addition, he is the liaison for the St. Louis County and St. Louis City Code Officials and is on the St. Louis chapter’s Metalworking Industry Fund Board, Labor Committee, and co-chair of the Local Joint Adjustment Board.

He graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) with a bachelor-of-science degree in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Engineering, a master’s degree in Engineering Management, and a Management Engineer Professional Degree.

Stine is a retired United States Army Intelligence Officer. He served on active duty with the Army Security Agency from 1967 to 1969 and received several service metals.

Charles E. Jarrell Contracting is a third-generation family company founded in 1954, presently with Mike Jarrell Sr. as CEO and Michael S. Jarrell as president. Stine has worked at Jarrell for 20 years and been in the industry for more than 40 years. His son Jim Stine works at Jarrell as a project manager and has LEED AP BD&C credentials.

Lunch was served to attendees prior to the 12:30 shotgun start.  Drinks and dinner followed the tournament and individual/team prizes were awarded. A total of 164 golfers enjoyed a day of food, fun and camaraderie. George “Butch” Welsch Named Man of the Year

Congratulations to St. Louis Metalworking Industry Fund Chairman George “Butch” Welsch of St. Louis. He was selected by the St. Louis Port Council as “Management Man of the Year”!  Congratulations also goes out to David Zimmermann, SMWIA Local #36 President/Business Manager for his selection as “Labor Man of the Year”.
